Greetings Bunny Run Supporters,

I can't believe it's been eight years since we started the DC Bunny Run. Hopping around in bunny outfits, spreading cheer and raising money for Easter Seals.

A huge thank you to all the runners and local businesses who have supported us over the years.

For those who are new to the run, thank you so much for stopping by our Easter Seals Fundraising page.

I hope you are able to join us on this year's run - running, drinking and photo-bombing our way through the streets of DC dressed in our signature bunny outfits.

But even if you can't make it, we appreciate you taking the time to stop by our page and learn more about our Easter Seals support.

We hope you'll be willing to donate to this worthy cause and pass the word about the event to others.

For the DC Bunny Runners this started in 2011 as a fun way to celebrate Easter weekend in our beautiful nation's capitol that we call home. Members of our regular run club got together to throw on some bunny outfits and run through a few of DC's historic sites while stopping at a few bars along the way. It was tremendous fun but there was something missing - the event needed a larger cause. And in Easter Seals we have that wonderful cause.

My familiarity with Easter Seals' work helping those with disabilities goes back much farther than our Bunny Run Fundraiser. I have a 14-year old son who was diagnosed with autism when just a little over 2 years old. We were able to intervene early and he has made tremendous progress thanks to many of the types of programs that Easter Seals supports.

While my son has been fortunate enough to have access to much of the support he needs, there are so many other children who do not have access to that same care. Thanks to Easter Seals, many of these children benefit enormously from educational programs and therapy they otherwise would not have access to.

I shudder to think about the situation that my son would be in now without the broad spectrum of support he has received over the years from so many dedicated teachers, aides, and behavioral therapists. The fact that there are autistic children out there that still may not have access to the support they require to grow to their greatest potential, I find heartbreaking. And it makes me very appreciative of the services, outreach and advocacy that Easter Seals provides to the autistic community.

This tremendous organization also provides support to disabled military veterans - something near and dear to my heart as I've spent a bit of time deployed over the years. The services Easter Seals provides to disabled military veterans have been in considerably higher demand over the last decade due to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Due to the nature of these wars, the range of support that veterans require has been enormous. Easter Seals continues to meet these growing challenges but they require support themselves from the community to do so. These are only a couple examples of the many areas where Easter Seals provide support.

I urge you to spend just a few minutes looking over their website and get better idea of how comprehensive their support is to those suffering from various disabilities. I thought I was pretty familiar with Easter Seals but there were several programs that I learned about while researching our own support to them for the Bunny Run.

So if you like what you see, I hope you will consider not only what these programs cost and the value that they provide, but also the costs of what happens if these programs aren't available.

If you are able to contribute, I encourage you do to so. And if you are not able, I hope you at least the find Easter Seals mission worthy of support and will pass word of our fundraising efforts along to others.

Thanks for your time. You can get more details about the run on our Facebook page linked below. We wish you well.
