Pico de Orizaba 18,491 feet
Last year I had an opportunity to fulfill one of those “bucket list” items in my life. I met an extraordinary group of people that introduced me to mountaineering in Denali National Park deep in the Alaska Range. The experience was truly life changing.
This year, I head out with another group of climbers, many of them the same from our last climb. We are attempting two summits in Mexico. The first is the Volcano Ixta and the second is another volcano Pico de Orizaba. Pico de Orizaba is the 3rd largest peak in North America at 18,491 feet. It’s a great undertaking.
Last year’s experience introduced me to a far more worthy challenge and goal than any one mountain can represent. Together my company helped me to raise $21,000 dollars for Easter Seals. Upon my return, I visited the local center and I saw firsthand the incredible work that Easter Seals does for children with disabilities. So many of you were so generous in your support and it made such an amazing difference to families here in the DC Metro area. Each time I’ve visited the facility it has reminded me of how little it takes to make a significant impact in someone’s life.
While I can no longer claim that this is a “bucket list” item, I would rather appeal to the cause that is beyond my own. I have a goal to raise $10,000 for Easter Seals this year. I'm asking you for your support in any way that is comfortable for you. Every bit makes a difference and your contribution will be valued and greatly appreciated by the charity, my company, and by myself personally.
