My Progress

85 percent of goal achieved.

Goal: $2,500.00
I've Raised:  $2,135.00

Journey was born at 28 weeks, and we knew right away that we literally had a journey ahead of us, thus the inspiration for her name.

At nine months old Journey had a seizure and was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder called Lissencephaly.
We were very concerned about her but wanted her to be able to reach her highest potential. We literally didn't know where to start but were introduced to Easter Seals, a team of therapists, and the GoBabyGo! program and they have literally been a Life saver!

You can tell the Easterseals therapists love what they do and it shows in the way they care about the people they work with. They became a part of our family. They helped lay the foundation so that Journey can be the best she can be. They helped us make big goals and helped her reach them.

Journey has been receiving Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Early Childhood Education from Easterseals since she was 11 months old and they help her to work on better head control, sitting up, making more sounds, swallowing, and grasping items.

Journey is now three and has passed numerous milestones with the help of the therapy services she has received. She is now working on sitting up on her own for longer periods of time, crawling and standing in her stander, which helps her interact more with her very energetic 6 year old brother Ryder.

Easterseals has taught us to celebrate what Journey can do. It's been great having people who understand and can point us in the right direction for whatever is needed to improve Journey's life quality. Easterseals is amazing and has enriched our family's life over the years.

Here's a little more information on Easterseals and the CAI Volleyball Challenge.

What is the Easterseals / CAI Volleyball Challenge?

For over 30 years, the Volleyball Challenge has raised critically-needed funds to help Easterseals provide exceptional services to children and adults with disabilities so they can achieve their greatest level of independence.

The 2017 Easterseals / CAI Volleyball Challenge takes places on Friday, February 24; Saturday, February 25; and Sunday, February 26 at the William Penn High School, 713 E. Basin Rd., New Casle, DE  19720.

To join in the fun, team captains invite 6-10 individuals to become part of their team to play in a 90-minute rotation on one of the three days of the challenge.

Each team is encouraged to raise a minimum of $1,500. For a team of 10 people, that's a commitment from each team member to raise just $150!

By participating in this event, everyone can help change lives. Here are just some examples:

$150 helps provide physical therapy for a child with developmental delays.

$1,500 helps send a child or adult with disabilities to Easterseals' Camp Fairlee Manor, where they can experience the joys and challenges of a fully-accessible summer camp.

The Volleyball Challenge offers teams a chance to have fun, exercise, win great prizes and meet some terrific new people!

Why am I participating in the 2017 Easterseals / CAI Volleyball Challenge?

I want to help make a difference in the lives of children and adults who like myself face significant challenges.

I believe that by participating in the volleyball challenge, I am personally investing in a kinder and stronger community and a world filled with infinite possibilities.

I trust that Easterseals Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore is a fiscally responsible organization. For over 30 years, the National Health Council has cited Easterseals as the nationwide leader among its member voluntary non-profit healthcare organizations for the percentage of program dollars spent on direct client services. Nearly 90% of revenues are directed to services provided to children and adults with disabilities in our region.

I know that Easterseals stands by its mission to provide exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.

Why do I need your help?

It's amazing how good it feels to make a difference in the lives of others. I'm committed to making a difference, and I'm asking you to support me. With your help, we can join Easterseals in creating solutions that change lives.

What better reason is there? Please give what you can! Help Support Team Journey Girl!!!
