Snowmobilers across the country care about children and adults with disabilities and special needs served by Easter Seals. This caring couldn't be more visible than through the efforts of snowmobilers in New Hampshire, South Dakota and those participating in the annual "For Women Only" held each year in Michigan.

A humble beginning 30 years ago, Leonard Arkesou and John Dunlap of the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association, coordinated the very first snowmobile ride to benefit Easter Seals. The event raised $5,000. Since that time the organization has contributed in excess of $1.5 million dollars to Easter Seals New Hampshire. This year event organizers Lucy Ford, Roger Leroux and Dan Stonesifer did a fabulous job. Event participants opened their hearts and wallets with donations totaling $97,906. Funds will be used to send children with disabilities to Camp Sno-Mo, which is operated by Easter Seals New Hampshire.

The event closing ceremonies were quite emotional with Easter Seals New Hampshire President Larry Gammon adding "We hope you are all as proud as we for the opportunities you've created for youngsters with disabilities and their families. We than you from the bottom of our Easter Seals lily hearts!"

Emotions spread across the country to Michigan and South Dakota where the two "For Women Only" snowmobile rides for Easter Seals are held. The South Dakota snowmobilers raised $46,029---just the third year the event has been held. In Michigan, 132 women hit the trail to raise $152,200! Congratulations to Jean Sommers--the top For Women Only fundraiser in Michigan who collected $19,000 for Easter Seals. Easter Seals Michigan Regional Director Renee Wyatt summed up the weekend "This is always an emotional weekend. To see these incredible women doing incredible things to help the kids served by Easter Seals. It blows us away to experience their commitment, their dedication, their caring. We're blessed to have them as partners to bring independence to those we serve."

In all efforts of snowmobilers across the country raised over $296,135. Special thanks is extended to John Mitchell a dedicated snowmobiler from Montana who continues to head up the Easter Seals effort promoting fund raising opportunities at every given moment.
