Military & Veterans Services -- Public Policy

Easter Seals has been advocating for and providing services and supports to veterans and military personnel living with disabilities since World War II.  Easter Seals believes that veterans deserve services delivered in an appropriate, timely and accessible manner.

Easter Seals Public Policy Outreach
Easter Seals’ governmental relations team is working to influence federal and state policy affecting military service members and veterans.  Easter Seals activity engages with congressional staff and administration officials to ensure that all veterans with disabilities receive the services and supports they need to attain their goals and full community participation.

Easter Seals is a respected partner and resource for veterans’ policy and information.  Easter Seals’ governmental relations staff has been invited by key U.S. House and U.S. Senate Congressional Committees to testify on the effectiveness of Department of Veterans Affairs rehabilitation programs and strategies for improving outreach to and care of our nation’s veterans.  Easter Seals’ government relations team works collaboratively with other veterans’ service and disability organizations to advance unified legislative goals that improve veterans care and services.

Easter Seals Military and Veterans Legislative Priorities:

  • Assure veterans' access to services by requiring the Department of Veterans Affairs to utilize community-based organizations to enhance current capacity.
  • Pilot long-term case management services models in designated sites using communities-based organizations to facilitate service coordination and navigate transition points in service delivery.
