LensCrafters' support of Easter Seals is making a difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities and their families in communities nationwide including Southern California, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston and San Francisco.

Committed to helping families, LensCrafters supports Easter Seals services in Southern California that deliver much-needed assistance to those struggling with the care of their aging loved ones. LensCrafters' generosity there has touched many lives, including 89-year-old Louise and her daughter Connie. When Louise was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Connie knew that despite the demands of care giving, she wanted her mother to continue living with her. Working full-time and raising a daughter of her own, Connie needed someone she could count on to care for her mother during the day. Easter Seals adult day services was her answer, making it possible for Connie to work, tend to the needs of her daughter and give Louise the best possible quality of life. While Connie is at work, Louise spends her days at Easter Seals where she participates in an extensive array of recreational programs designed to keep her active and happy. The support Easter Seals of Southern California receives from LensCrafters ensures the continued delivery of services such as those found at its senior day care program which have made such a difference in the lives of people like Louise and Connie.

Ensuring that children get the best possible start in life is critical to Easter Seals, and LensCrafters' support of Easter Seals Children's Services helps ensure that mission is achieved. Easter Seals' network of Child Development Centers throughout the country provides the expertise of Easter Seals' early child development in meeting a growing need for high-quality child care for more than 20 million young children and their working parents. Children ages 6 months to 5 years are welcomed in a unique, inclusive environment where children of all abilities learn together.

In Chicago, 4-year-old Brian is autistic. When he first came to Easter Seals Child Development Center, he was afraid to leave his mother, had difficulty adjusting to new situations and did not socialize with other children. In addition to his teachers, Brian worked with three Easter Seals therapists to help him through each week. These days, Brian only sees one therapist, has begun relating to other children, greets people, makes eye contact, spells his own name and smiles more. "The biggest joy he gives me is his smile. Autistic children tend not to be very demonstrative. He shows interest in me, which is far more than I could say before we were blessed with Easter Seals," says Brian's mother who is now confident that when the time comes for Brian to attend a regular elementary school, he'll be ready.

Brian is just one of many children benefiting from the extensive services provided at Easter Seals Child Development Centers, and the support Easter Seals receives from LensCrafters creates success stories like Brian every day.
