“Mia is a miracle”
Mia was born with Pontocerebellar hypoplasias Type 2 and has been attending an Easter Seals Children’s Center for almost a year. In that time she has achieved many goals with the help of her teachers, therapists and classmates. Mia’s mom hopes that one day she will be able to speak and walk.  “She has already surpassed the doctor’s expectations and we expect nothing short of a Miracle for the rest of her life”, says Mom.

“Jayden is confident”
Though diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder – a disorder that falls in within the Autism Spectrum, Jayden is like most 6 year old boys…rambunctious!  With Easter Seals providing respite services for mom she is able to balance life and get her needs met in order to continue to keep up with him.  “Easter Seals has been a positive ongoing presence in our life, the support and services they provide enable us to be a fully functioning family with everyone getting their needs met” says Mom. 

Avyn Gonzales    Avyn Gonzales -- 4

“Avyn is determined”
Diagnosed at birth with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome (RTS), Avyn has gone from shy and timid to a “good bye” taking 45 minutes and many days of play on his tricycle. At his Easter Seals Children’s Center, Avyn receives speech and physical therapy.  His mom says “Walking, running, signing words and comprehending what we are saying to him are all big achievements for Avyn.” With the charming personality like his Dad and a loving heart like his mom, Avyn is determined to have a very full and satisfying life.

 Matthew Andreas Wulf

“Matthew is thriving”
Diagnosed with Peroxisome biogenesis disorders, Matthew is thriving in life. He is a published author, has learned to play the piano and has written seven music compositions! Easter Seals provides services that include home support, personal care and respite to Matthew and his family. “Because of these services Matthew has become very productive in his community and beyond. He wrote a letter to Mrs. George Bush in hopes that NC would gain more equipped teachers in the area of special education.
