Easter Seals RI “Walk With Me” Raises $50,000
for Children and Young Adults with Disabilities & Special Needs

Providence, RI — The 10th Annual Walk With Me for Easter Seals RI was an afternoon to remember, not only for Easter Seals but all the participants and sponsors too. Nearly 400 dedicated supporters attended the walk that was short on mileage by big in heart on Saturday, June 9, and raised more than $50,000 for children and young adults who receive services from Easter Seals RI.

Many local and national businesses have sponsored the walk including CVS Caremark, Century 21 Access America, Mass Mutual, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Mews Tavern, South County Orthopedics, A Quick Tire, Gencorp/Pike Insurance, Southern Rhode Island Newspapers, United HealthCare, Home Star Mortgage, Gallo Thomas Insurance, and Ride-Away.

Participants enjoyed the carnival-infused walk and atmosphere at Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park in Providence complete with Tony the Tiger and Paws from the Pawtucket Red Sox, entertainment by Kenny Kool Light and Sound and give-a-ways from our awesome sponsors such as CVS Caremark, Century 21, Mass Mutual and Lite Rock 105.

The addition of so many new local teams such as our Homestar Mortgage team, Hands in Harmony team, Wakefield Staple’s Team Easy, Wal-Mart stores from North Kingstown and Westerly, Kohl’s of North Kingstown and Warwick, Christian CAN team and our newest ambassador teams for Valentina and Celia are what made it such a tremendous event.

“The support we receive from participants, businesses and our sponsors is a vital part to the success of the programs offered at Easter Seals RI,” said Judy Fortier, Director of Development. “It is incredible to see the level of support in this community for children with disabilities and special needs. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event!”

Many thanks to family friendly donations such as AC Moore’s craft tent, face painting by “The Many Faces of Ashley”, the “in-lightening paths” of the Story Walker, as well as our Doggie Watering Station Sponsor, the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island. Much appreciation for the continued support and delicious food from Belmont Market, Subway, Willow Tree Farms, Dunkin Donuts, Ga Ga’s Sherbetter, Colvitto’s, Panera, and Cabot Cheese.

If you were unable to attend the Walk and still have donations to turn in, it’s not too late! The money raised supports Easter Seals programs and services and ensures that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. Easter Seals serves more than 350 children and young adults throughout the state.
