WAKEFIELD—Easter Seals Rhode Island was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company as part of MassMutual’s national Community Service Award (CSA) program. Easter Seals is one of only ten organizations nationally to win the award. MassMutual made the grant in honor Brad Simonds, a MassMutual agent and a leading volunteer with Easter Seals. “Corporate responsibility and community involvement help form the bedrock of our organization; they define and strengthen the core values on which MassMutual was founded,” said Trish Robinson, Mass Mutual Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications and Community Responsibility. “Brad Simonds reflects MassMutual’s steadfast commitment to the community by taking a leadership role with Easter Seals.” Simonds says he serves as a volunteer with Easter Seals because of the early intervention services the organization gives families with special needs. “I am so excited to have Easter Seals of Rhode Island receive this award to promote the great work they do in Rhode Island,” said Simonds. “I have found that Easter Seals has filled a void for hundreds of families through the years, including my own family. My brother received early intervention serves from Easter Seals almost 30 years ago and they still are providing families with the hope that their loved one will live a full and meaningful life.” The $10,000 grant will support the Early Intervention program which serves almost 400 children and their families on a yearly basis. Easter Seals provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.
