Put Your Best Foot Forward to Raise Money for Children and Young Adults with Disabilities & Special Needs at Easter Seals RI 10th Annual “Walk With Me”

Providence, RIRound up your friends, lace up your sneakers and mark your calendar for the Easter Seals RI 10th Annual Walk With Me 5k family fun walk on June 9, 2012 at Roger Williams Park, 1000 Elmwood Avenue in Providence.

This year’s Walk With Me begins with registration at 9:00 a.m. The Walk officially starts at 10:00 a.m. rain or shine at the Carousel Village. All walkers will be partnered with an Easter Seals Honorary Ambassador—a child with a disability who has benefited from Easter Seals services.  There will be something for everyone after you take a stroll in the park at the post walk celebration at 11:00 a.m.

Form a team or walk as an individual and share the experience. Easter Seals provides everything you need to form a successful team at www.walkwithme.org/providence.You, your friends and co-workers will feel good knowing the money you raise will put hope and independence within reach for children and young adults with disabilities and special needs.

Many supporters have joined the walk including CVS/pharmacy, Mews Tavern, South County Orthopedics, Willow Tree Poultry Farm, A Quick Tire, Ga Ga’s Sherbetter, Gencorp/Pike Insurance, Southern Rhode Island Newspapers, United Health, Home Star Mortgage, Gallo Thomas Insurance, Ride-Away, Gencorp Insurance Group, Pepsi, Dunkin Donuts, Cabot Cheese, Spectrum Marketing Companies, Subway, A.C. Moore, Carousel Village, the Paw Sox, Tony the Tiger, and more.

“Support from individuals and businesses, as well as our sponsors, is critical to our ability to serve more than 339 children with disabilities and special needs,” said Judy Fortier, Easter Seals RI Director of Development.

Walk With Me Providence is a great family activity and there is plenty for families to do once they’ve completed the walk, as well. Every walker will receive a coupon for the Roger Williams Park Zoo to visit the zoo. If the zoo isn’t on everyone’s wish list, families can visit the park’s Botanical Garden or take a trip to the Providence Place Mall to enjoy shopping, an indoor arcade at Dave & Busters, the food court and restaurants, and even a 3-D IMAX movie. Then families can spend the evening enjoying Providence WaterFire at Waterplace Park. WaterFire is held on Saturday evenings and starts 20-minutes after sunset. It has over 80 sparkling bonfires throughout three downtown rivers, musical entertainment and performances for all ages. Lots of sports fans in the family? Catch a home game with the Pawtucket Red Sox! The PawSox have a home game on June 9th, at 6:05pm against the Gwinnett Braves from Georgia. Did we forget to mention that participants will receive free receive tickets to Monday, June 11th game?
