“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again!”

Ramon’s success story brings an extra degree of satisfaction to the Latino Connection Program because this is his third time in the program. The first two times he attempted, his case was closed due to lack of participation/other reasons. Ramon suffers from visual impairment, osteoporosis, as well as other complications. He is originally from Cuba, and has had a long journey in getting where he is today. Ramon has also had trouble in finding a job that is the right fit for him.

After starting the program in February 2013, Ramon began working one on one with a job developer and occasionally attending ESL and computer classes. Over the course of the year, he worked with his job developer and VR counselor for guidance and motivational assistance. Through this ongoing and intensive support, the program was able to find a job that was a perfect fit for Ramon. Ramon has been working for almost 90 days, and is very happy with his new janitorial job. It is at a mall, and the work activities and schedule are perfect for him.

The Latino Connection program has and will continue to follow up with Ramon to ensure he has all the tools and resources necessary to retain his job. Sometimes it takes time for a person to find the right job fit, but it is always worth the time and effort to have an end result of a happy, productive, and successful employee! Congratulations, Ramon!
