Providing Services for People with Disabilities and Their Families

Children and adults with disabilities and special needs find the highest-quality services designed to meet their individual needs when they come to Easter Seals. Teams of therapists, teachers and other healthcare professionals help each person overcome obstacles to independence and reach his or her personal goals. Easter Seals also includes families as active members of any therapy program, and offers the support families need.

Medical Rehabilitation: Promoting Independence and Quality of Life
Whether through a birth condition, injury or illness, or because of functional limitations experienced in aging, Easter Seals medical rehabilitation services -- including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, therapy dog services and early intervention -- are the first step toward helping people with disabilities gain greater independence.

Child Care: Providing a Learning Environment for Children and Peace of Mind for Parents
Meeting a growing need for high quality child care for young children and their working parents, Easter Seals offers child care for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Young children are welcomed into a unique environment where children of all abilities learn together.

Adult Day Programs: Anticipating the Needs of Adults with Disabilities and Older Adults
Extending Easter Seals' medical rehabilitation expertise, Easter Seals adult day services meet daytime needs of adults with disabilities and older adults while promoting their dignity and independence. Easter Seals partners with families to ensure a continuation of their high standards of care.

Community Services

  • In-Home Respite Care
    Outreach programs are designed to help individuals with mental and physical disabilities remain living in their home. Easter Seals trained caregivers provide services to assist children and adults with daily living and socialization skills. Caregivers also assist with personal and home care.
  • Weekend Respite Program
    This program provides respite care for eligible children who are medically fragile or who have Autism Spectrum Disorder.  This service is offered during select weekends throughout the year. Click here for more information.
  • The Easter Seals Skill Development Center Serving Young Adults With Autism
    The Skill Development Center serves young adults with autism. These young adults have finished their participation in the secondary education system but need additional training and support before going on to higher education, employment or volunteer opportunities.   Click here for more information.

  • Home Delivered Meals
    Easter Seals Community Services offers home delivered meals in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties.  An experienced driver from our team will come to your home to deliver a cold or hot meal based on your approved order.  Each meal contains 1/3 of the daily nutritional requirements.  Our meal menu includes seasonal changes.   Home delivered meals are available as follows:

 

    • Private Pay  -  Residents of Mahoning and Columbiana Counties may privately pay for meals (hot or cold meals) which can be delivered Monday – Friday.  Frozen meals are also offered and may be delivered by the week.  There are no age or quantity limits on private pay meals and the cost is $6.00 per meal; including delivery.
    • Grant – Eligible seniors 60 and older living in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties may receive a hot or cold meal Monday-Friday provided by a grant administered through the Area Agency on Aging, 11.    The meal service is free and we suggest a donation of $2.00 per meal to help cover our expenses; donations are voluntary.
    • Passport /Waiver – Case Managers from Passport and/or Waiver Services contact our office and order meals based on the assessment of the clients’ needs.  Hot, cold and/or frozen meals are ordered by the Case Manager.  The Case Manager coordinates the meal type and quantity with our office.

 

  • Congregate Meal Sites
    Easter Seals Community Services offers 13 Congregate Nutrition Sites in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties.   Each of our Congregate Sites are managed by a Site Supervisor who coordinates the meal service, activities, transportation and trips.  Seniors 60 and older in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties gather at these sites to share a meal, conversation and socialize.  The meals each contain 1/3 of the daily nutritional requirements and are delivered to the site daily.  The meal service is free and we suggest a donation of $2.00 per meal to help cover our expenses; donations are voluntary.

 

  • Transportation
    Easter Seals Community Services offers “through the door” transportation for seniors 60 years and older living in Mahoning County.  This service is provided by a grant administered through the Area Agency on Aging 11 to transport seniors to our Congregate Nutrition Sites in Mahoning County, Medical Appointments and Social Activities.  We can travel outside of the county but the clients must be a Mahoning County Resident to be eligible.  “Through the Door Service” means we will assist a client from their home, in and out of their appointment location and back to their home.  Call our senior transportation office (330-884-2511) to schedule your rides.  The transportation service is covered by the grant and we suggest a $2.50 donation per trip to help cover our expenses; donations are voluntary.
