Are you a Veteran living on Long Island that is interested in a career?
Are you and/or your company interested in networking with and hiring Veterans?
VETS2JOBS – Easter Seals New York is expanding its Joseph DiChiara Military and Veteran services to Long Island through Vets2Jobs. This initiative will support all veterans who are unemployed or underemployed.
The VETS2JOBS program will
- Assist Veterans’ skills and interests
- Assist Veterans with resume writing and interview skills
- Unite local businesses in need of qualified workers with unemployed/underemployed Veterans; and
- Provide job placement for Veterans in communities throughout Long Island
The VETS2JOBS program is comprised of four components :
- Awareness
Heighten awareness of Veteran employment on Long Island and engage stakeholders in addressing the issue
- Recruitment of Veterans
All Veterans are encouraged and welcome to participate in job readiness training to assist job development, develop resumes and build interviewing skills
- Networking to Careers
These events will bring together Veterans, Employers and business people to discuss and learn about specific companies, industries and careers. Small groups of Veterans will meet with several businesses to discuss ideas, goals and experiences. All will then assess if there is potential for interviews or employment in the future.
- Follow Up
Easter Seals New York will build on Networking to Career events to develop job opportunities for Veterans. It will also follow-up with Veterans and the business they met with for feedback.
