BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

B.S. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field. Must possess or be able to obtain the following: AL boaters license, Lifeguard Certification, Certified Pool Operator and Lifeguard Instructor. Knowledgeable or able to obtain knowledge of all camp program areas.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Easter Seals Summer Explorers Camp Program provides overnight camp opportunities for youth with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Camp is in session from August 16-24, 2013 (with training dates) and is located in Rindge NH.

The position of Behavioral Management Specialist assists the Camp Youth Leadership Manager in the overall management of the camp. The position begins in May; part time - approximately 20 hours per week until the camp training session begins.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with camp leadership in the development of a pre-camp training curriculum for camp staff and volunteers
Develop behavior training handbook
Assists in assessing online training modules for staff and volunteers
Provides instruction to camp staff and volunteers on behavior management strategies
Provides effective small and large group instruction
Participates in the camper interview process
Reviews application materials and any supporting documentation for the purpose of assessing if the camper is appropriate for the Explorers program
Attends Easter Seals camp events that invite Explorers campers
Manages/coordinates camp-wide behavior management activities
Acts as first point of contact with camp staff and volunteers to address camper behaviors
Supervises head counselors and one on one aides.
Coordinates/Maintains appropriate camper records (application/health forms) with Health Staff
Documents and tracks specific behaviors and subsequent behavior interventions

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of two years experience working with autistic children or children with behavior problems
Understand and address the needs of children with special needs
Knowledge of behavior techniques
Bachelors degree in related field or combination of years of experience with behavior management certifications

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Easter Seals Massachusetts is searching for a licensed RN to fill this position during our Explorers Camp* session in August in Rindge, NH. Staff and volunteer training** is held in Charlton MA.

Responsibilities

Provide health care to meet the individual needs of camp staff and campers
Screen all campers and staff upon camp arrival and departure
Supervise sanitary conditions throughout the camp session
Manage and disperse all medications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference given to dual (New Hampshire and Massachusetts) licensed RN who can cover both the training and camp sessions
Licensing (professional) in New Hampshire as an RN for the Rindge NH site or licensing (professional) in Massachusetts as an RN for the Charlton MA site.
Experience treating illnesses/injuries for the care of both children and adults
CPR certified
Valid driving license and own transportation

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are currently seeking patient, energetic, and creative individuals to join our camp staff! We invite anyone age 16 or older to apply for a counselor position at our camp. Working at camp is a great way to build your resume and gain firsthand experience working with youth with autism and other developmental disabilities. Many camp staff are getting ready to begin careers working with youth, or people with disabilities, and former staff have shared that the experience of working at camp is extremely valuable, educational, and FUN!

Counselors will encourage campers to participate in the camp activities including: arts and crafts, activities, games, swimming, canoe trips, and more! Counselors are responsible for the primary care of the campers while they attend the 6-day overnight camp.

All camp staff will be required to attend training before they work with campers. Training begins August 16th and camp begins on August 18th. All staff will be required to commit to the 16th to the 24th.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 16 years old
Desire and ability to learn about autism and approaches for managing the challenges associated with this and other disabilities.
Desire to work in a camp and outdoor setting.
Good communication skills and ability to establish a rapport with campers.
Be physically and emotionally able and willing to maintain constant supervision of campers and to fulfill all responsibilities.
Demonstrate respect, inclusion, and acceptance toward all people.
Be flexible and able to work well with others, maintain open and effective communication.
Commit to living and working in close quarters, with limited privacy while at camp.
A willingness (and preferably excitement) to sing songs and be silly
A willingness to get dirty, hike, and work long hours
Current certification in first aid preferred, but not required.
Understand the development needs of youth.
Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide health care to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers.
Collaborate with other medical staff to meet medical needs.
Follow health care policies/procedures as described in the Healthcare Manual and treatment procedures.
Organize, maintain, and utilize adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff.
Set up the camp Health Center.
Inventory and order all necessary medical supplies and equipment.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records according to state and American Camp Association Standards.
Ensure staff and camper health examinations are current and on file.
Prepare and utilize daily medical log for treatment and medications.
Prepare and record insurance and accident report forms.
Oversee First Aid procedures and supplies.
Prepare and distribute first aid kits throughout camp including camp vehicles, kitchen, offices, waterfront, activity areas, out-of-camp trips.
Ensure supplies are well stocked and distributed as needed.
Ensure a staff orientation session is delivered on medical services.
Ensure camp staff and campers know their role related to health care and first aid.
Provide or ensure orientation is provided that includes standing orders, clinic hours, specific camper health and social needs, health center procedures, emergency procedures, growth and development of age groups, staff health assessment of campers, policies on contacting parents, transportation to outside health facilities, accident prevention and risk management, nutrition, and first aid in the camp setting.
Screen all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp.
Verify health history and examination.
Verify emergency authorization.
Identify any observable evidence of illness or communicable diseases.
Conduct a health assessment.
Keep all medications used by campers and staff.
Supervise sanitary conditions throughout camp.
Observe daily cleanliness in the food service facility and other areas throughout camp.
Report any health problems or symptoms of illness to the Camp Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Registered nurse (RN) with a license as required by that state law.
CPR certified.
Current First aid certification and experience in first aid and emergency management.
Driver's license.
Experience in both children and adult illness/injury care.
Community health knowledge.

The Camp Counselor is responsible for the direction, supervision and organization of campers in their group. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Be a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior. Assist in activities of daily living, such as toileting, bathing, ambulating, transfers, feeding and dressing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age.
Must be able to obtain or become CPR/First Aid certification.

Previous camping experience is a plus but not required.
Experience in providing care for individuals with mild to profound disabilities or an interest in gaining this type of experience.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Camp Easter Seals UCP Virginia is located about forty five minutes northwest of Roanoke in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The camp offers children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy fun and challenging activities in a unique and supportive camp atmosphere. Our campers have a variety of disabilities including autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and several other physical and cognitive disabilities. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy camp sessions may also be offered for children and teens. Our summer ends with a week for families that have a child with a disability. Counselors come from around the country and world to serve our campers. Many staff have described their experience at camp as “life changing!

To help contribute to our supportive environment we are seeking Camp Counselors for summer employment. Camp Counselors supervise and care for campers' personal needs as well as lead and assist campers with camp activities. They ensure that at all times their campers are safe and having fun.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 18 years of age
Have compassion and patience
Be physically and cognitively able to supervise campers and assist with their personal care
Act ethically and honestly
Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others
