RESPITE SERVICES
Join Easter Seals Intergenerational Respite Services, which connects the generations in order to strengthen children and families. The program offers a variety of support services for families who have a child with a disability and/or chronic illnesses or special need. Through a network of trained adult and senior volunteers The Program provides a range of support and enriching experiences for children with special needs and provides critically needed respite support to their families. WHAT IS RESPITE? Respite care provides the caregivers with much needed time off from their caregiving responsibilities to relieve stress and to prevent burnout. With respite services you will have a few hours to yourself or the opportunity to spend time with your other children, accomplish household chores, go shopping, relax, take a much-needed nap, etc. Through Easter Seals’ Respite Services, the Program will provide your child/children with or without disabilities with educational, social, and life enriching experiences. The child with the disability and their siblings will engage in meaningful activities that encourage mental, physical, and emotional stimulation and wellbeing. There will be opportunities for new friendships with the volunteers, staff, and other children. Easter Seals trains volunteers to serve in the home, on the community respite trips and during in-center activities. Volunteers enjoy the satisfaction that comes from giving their time and energy, and often form lasting relationships with families and other volunteers. Families receive friendship and community connection, time for themselves or with their significant other, time for individual attention with their other children, decreased stress and isolation, extra emotional and social support, and knowing that their child is having a fun and stimulating day with caring staff and trained volunteers. RESPITE SERVICES PROVIDED: - In-Center Respite- Saturdays (Children 6 months-5 years old)
