EDUCATION

The Wyoming Department of Education classifies autism as a developmental disability that significantly effects communications and social interactions. Autism is generally evident before the age of 3 and adversely effects educational performance. To be eligible to receive special education, a child must display impaired communication, impaired cognitive development, and inappropriate relationships. A child must also display abnormal sensory processing and abnormal range of activities. (Rules Governing Services for Children with Disabilities, Wyoming Department of Education, p. 52)
