Easter Seals Elects Nashville Resident Samuel H. Howard to its International Board of Directors as a Lifetime Member

Long-time Easter Seals board member and volunteer Samuel H. Howard was elected to the disability nonprofit’s International Board of Directors as a Lifetime Member at its most recent meeting in Chicago.

Howard, the Chairman of Phoenix Holdings, Inc., an investment holding company that pursues business opportunities in health care, was honored at a recent Board meeting for his years of commitment to Easter Seals and leadership in his local community.

“Over the years Sam Howard has shown outstanding service in support of disability services,” says James E. Williams, Jr., president and chief executive officer, Easter Seals. “Easter Seals is delighted to have Sam continue his passionate support of Easter Seals mission as a lifetime member on our board of directors.”

While holding leadership positions in numerous community volunteer and professional organizations, it’s Howard’s work on the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare that hugely had an impact on the nation’s health system, and Easter Seals benefited from his efforts.

Howard served as an Easter Seals Tennessee board member in 1993-1997 and has been an active supporter since, holding many offices and leadership positions. Since 1997, Howard has served at the national level, first as an Easter Seals Tennessee representative to Easter Seals National House ofDelegatesin 1994-2003 and subsequently served several terms as chairman and vice chairman of the Board and the Easter Seals Foundation.  Through his leadership and volunteer efforts, Howard has made an incredible difference for people living with disabilities and their families.

Howard joins Robert Bradford, Lou Lowenkron and Gerard P. Mattimore in Easter Seals top honor of Lifetime Member.
