Collaborative Convening on Veteran Education

In 2013, Easter Seals Dixon Center collaborated with organizations critical to education for service members, veteran, military families and families of the fallen to facilitate a “convening” in Washington, DC, hosted by Admiral Michael Mullen and his wife Deborah. At the meeting, more than 25 organizations providing educational scholarships to veterans, military spouses, military children, and families of the fallen were able to discuss the challenges in the educational space and the simultaneous efforts by all organizations to address these complications.

The result of convening this community of like-minded organizations is a more unified approach and an embracing of collective impact. This group is now dedicated to mobilizing around the opportunities and challenges ahead, and is committed to creating a forum that enhances collaboration, leverages capability and aligns efforts to move veteran advocacy forward.
